2018 Year of Automation and IoT

Automation and IoT are becoming more and more attractive and effective solution for businesses. Nowadays, there is no commercially successful company that would not think of this option. IoT provides better customer experience and automation provides better and faster production. According to estimates by Dimension Data, implementation of these systems should become an important topic next year. But what does change this bring for a regular customer?

New  possibilities of old machines

For example, thanks to IoT customers do not care about things like repairs or checking the functionality of some devices. Devices with this technology can detect errors and send data to their manufacturers. The IoT Contact Centers of most manufacturers today are able to receive data from up to a million of different devices and then work with them. Customers can therefore only focus on proactive experience. How does this work in practice?

Consider Bosch for example. They put a sensor in their washing machines which can detect the drum has slowed down from the standard 7,000 rpm to 5000. The customer would not be able to see such detail until the fault progressed further and caused worse problems. However, thanks to the sensors and the connection of the machine to the network, the washing machine can contact the service center with a precise description of the actual fault. The service can then contact the customer and let them know about the problem. It can then offer a way to solve this problem and in some cases, the Bosch Service Center may fix some defects remotely and let the customer know after the problem is resolved.

More partner  than tool

Growth in digitization and cost reduction is pushing technology forward. The new standard becomes self-service processes supported by artificial intelligence. This trend will mean more investment in 2018 in automation, artificial intelligence, analytics, and machine learning.

The Bluetooth variant Beacon, is also becoming more popular. It can alert downloaded apps to the change of the area and change their settings to suit local customers. This technology is already widely used in the retail sector and is expected to grow even further.

What about  Czech Republic?

The Czech Republic is currently following these trends and, according to the latest research, it intends to remain doing so for the upcoming years. SECTRON s.r.o. intends to monitor this development and provide companies with sufficient accessory to implement their IoT solutions today and in the future.
