IoT in agriculture

IoT is experiencing an increasing boom in Czech Republic. In 2017, IoT has been implemented in countless companies that increased their efficiency and made work easier thanks to this new technology. Now, this trend is starting to affect agriculture as well.

One of the reasons is the start-up of the CleverFarm project, which this year ended the beta testing of the first generation of their online sensors. Test sensors can be deployed for all farm purposes. They can monitor the state of farmland, warehouses or conditions in livestock buildings.

The next generation, scheduled to take place in January 2018, should offer all the above-mentioned, plus a better design and a host of new features for CleverFarm. Farmers will not have to check the state of the field physically every day, but they will be able to read accurate online data that is updated every 15 minutes.

This IoT solution uses data from ESA satellites that are accessible to anyone for free, making application more affordable. Farmers can therefore see the status of their field, the activity of pests, introduce precision farming techniques, etc. from the comfort of their home.

Thanks to the affordability and simple implementation of this and similar solutions, IoT in agriculture should continue to grow in our country even further.
