The Teltonika TRB256 is an industrial 4G LTE NB-IoT cellular gateway designed for demanding global applications. A major advantage of this device is the combination of several interfaces, including Ethernet, I/O, and RS232/RS485 serial communication, which enables easy integration into a wide range of industrial systems.
Global connectivity and 450 MHz band support
The Teltonika TRB256 industrial gateway provides reliable internet connectivity using modern LTE Cat M1, NB-IoT, and EGPRS mobile technologies. Thanks to its broad frequency band support and backward compatibility with 2G networks, the device is ready for deployment in global projects. In regions where legacy 2G networks are being phased out, the gateway seamlessly switches over to energy-efficient LPWAN networks.
This gateway supports the 450 MHz frequency band. The TRB256 is therefore an ideal choice for smart metering, the energy sector, telematics, and remote monitoring.
Reliable hardware and Dual SIM functionality
The device is equipped with one LAN Ethernet port (10/100 Mbps), two SIM card slots, and an industrial I/O connector. The Dual SIM feature provides reliable backup connectivity (failover) in the event of a primary operator outage. For optimal signal reception anywhere in the world, it features 1× SMA (LTE) and 1× SMA (GNSS) connectors with support for global satellite navigation systems.
The rugged aluminum housing of the TRB256 gateway ensures trouble-free and continuous operation in demanding industrial conditions at extreme temperatures from -40 °C to 75 °C.
RutOS operating system and top-tier security
The device is powered by the advanced RutOS operating system based on Linux OpenWrt, which is synonymous with the high security and stability of Teltonika products. Data protection is handled by a wide range of features and protocols:
- Security and VPN: Firewall, OpenVPN, IPsec.

Remote Management RMS
A major strength is full compatibility with the Teltonika RMS (Remote Management System). This cloud-based tool enables centralized monitoring, bulk configuration, firmware updates, and management of an entire fleet of devices from anywhere in the world. The system also makes it possible to securely change settings and collect device status data even in cases where the gateway does not have a public IP address.
