Detailed description

Olife Energy Solar Management for DoubleBox and AC charging station

The solar module with an extension kit for common AC charging stations and Doublebox OlifeEnergy enables communication with selected inverters for home photovoltaic power stations (PVE) without the need to purchase an OlifeEnergy SmartMeter for main circuit breaker protection. Thanks to the SolarModule, the smart meter of the solar power plant can be used (selected models only).

This solar module communicates with the photovoltaic inverter via Wi-Fi or Modbus TCP Ethernet over a local area network (LAN). In addition, it mediates remote administration and setting of the station over the local network.

In the course of the year, the function of charging an electric car from surplus PV will be made available. Cooperation with the inverter will allow the station to manage the charging of the electric car in such a way that the highest possible charging speed is achieved with the maximum efficiency of the produced solar energy.

The solar module supports three main charging modes:

Circuit Breaker Protection Mode:

In this mode, the charging current is dynamically regulated so that the total current drawn by the household, including electric vehicle charging, does not exceed the set value of the main circuit breaker. If the total current on any phase exceeds the circuit breaker limit, charging will be limited or completely stopped after a time delay. Charging will automatically resume once the total electricity consumption in the household decreases enough that the total draw (household + minimum charging current 6 A) is below the main circuit breaker limit with a reserve (2 A).

Charging Control Mode Based on Battery State of Charge (SoC):

In this mode, charging is controlled based on the current state of charge of the household PV battery storage (SoC – State of Charge).

• Charging Start (SoC start): Charging will begin if the SoC level of the household battery reaches or exceeds the set 'SoC start' value.

• Charging Current Limitation (SoC limit): If the SoC of the household battery exceeds the set 'SoC limit' downwards, the charging current will be limited to the minimum value of 6 A per phase.

• Charging Stop (SoC stop): Charging will stop if the SoC of the household battery falls below the set 'SoC stop' level.

Electric Vehicle Charging Mode from PV Surplus:

In this mode, the intensity of electric vehicle charging smoothly adapts to the current energy production from the photovoltaic system and the current household consumption. The main goal is to maximize the utilization of produced solar energy for charging and to minimize or completely prevent energy overflows back into the distribution grid. Charging will only start when there is an energy surplus corresponding to the minimum charging current of 6 A (due to vehicle characteristics). In this mode, a Grid Assistant can also be set up - purchasing missing amperes from the grid. For example, if I set a purchase of 3 A, then charging will start with surpluses as low as 3 A, as the sum will reach the required 6 A. This eliminates charging stops if, for example, a cloud comes and PV production decreases. The Grid Assistant always purchases only the maximum set value of amperes. If the surplus is higher, no purchase occurs. For example, if I have set a purchase of 3 A, but the surplus is 5 A, only 1 A is purchased. If the surplus is 7 A, nothing is purchased.

The OlifeEnergy Solar module cannot be used with stations in the CLOUD variant (SMART version).
