A WiFi router is a device that allows you to connect your home or business network wirelessly to the Internet. A WiFi router receives a signal from its Internet provider and then spreads it using a wireless signal (WiFi) to the surrounding area. Thanks to the WiFi router, all devices such as mobile phones, laptops, tablets, printers, TVs, security cameras, sensors and smart appliances, such as vacuum cleaners or refrigerators, can connect to the Internet wirelessly.

A WiFi router consists of two devices - a router and a wireless module (WiFi). The router connects the two networks and transmits content between them, the wireless WiFi module is then the control element of the entire wireless network. Thanks to the WiFi router, you have a unified network to which both wireless and wired devices can connect.

WiFi router operates in the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. Older routers offer the 2.4 GHz band. This band is suitable for homes or offices with a smaller number of connected electronics and is enough for normal internet surfing. However, newer and more modern devices provide a combination of 2.4 and 5 GHz (Dual-band) bands. The 5 GHz band is ideal for more demanding activities requiring higher bit rates, such as streaming quality videos and playing online games. However, with a higher frequency (5 GHz), the range and transmission of the WiFi signal through obstacles and walls decreases. The 5GHz band is also suitable for places with high WiFi network coverage (for example, prefabricated houses, where each household has its own network). The 2.4 GHz band is often disturbed due to mutual interference of individual WiFi channels, even if you are connected to your 2.4 GHz network, connectivity is often poor. In this case, it is advisable to scan the surrounding WiFi networks and find out which channels have less occupancy.
